Where did you found "the supported version of PostgreSQL" ? The closest that might be seen like this (but is really not) is the version of PGSQL used for tests declared in the parent pom.xml and this one did not changed a bit between http://maven.xwiki.org/releases/org/xwiki/enterprise/xwiki-enterprise/7.4.2/xwiki-enterprise-7.4.2.pom and http://maven.xwiki.org/releases/org/xwiki/platform/xwiki-platform-distribution/8.0/xwiki-platform-distribution-8.0.pom.
