Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit was born in 1686 in Danzig, then in North 
Germany, with a German nationality. He began his scientific work in 
this city, then moved to Holland where he spent the rest of his life. 
He died in the Hague in1736.

Danzig is now in Poland and named Gdansk.
