I reprinted part of Terry's experience to the metricsucks site. I did not
use Terry's name or indicate where Terry's repose came from, other then to
mention that Terry is an aquaintance.

Here was the response of one imperialist, who insisted in the past that
Tesco's "main scales" were in imperial only.

> I mentioned to a Uk aquaintance about
> Steve's claims that Tescos uses imperial
> scales.

They do indeed

> Seems Steve has been doing some fibbing.

Here we go!

> Here was his response:
> I visited Tescos just now. As far as I could
> see, they are acting within the law.
> 1. Scales

> Their point of sale scales are metric only.
> They provide additional scales
> near the fruit and vegetables for customer
> use. These are dual unit.

Indeed - they have -ahem- LB & OZ on them -this is what we commonly call
imperial. Thus I was telling the truth.

This is a lie - I will explain later but prominance is to the LB price

> b) Fixed quantity (i.e. prepacked) goods

> '79 p per kg'. I only saw metric only unit

All tesco branded packed food is dual. You lie again

Wow! Say what?

Those items are indeed in metric.
I'd rather eat chips than dishwasher powder!

> I was looking for olives at the delhi

> 100 g, per quarter).

Nice one!

> Me: "A quarter of those olives
> please"

> Server: (metric-only scales display 108 g)
> "Just under. Is that OK?"

> Me:. "How do I know it is a
> quarter?"

> Server: "Because a quarter is 113

> Me: "How do you know that"

> Server: "Because it is written

Did she do a "wanker" sign as you walked away? Ask for CCTV footage - you
may be suprised

Obvious?

> 'PRICE/kg 8.50'

Correct - what did you aske for again?

> Apples had large notices on the containers

Bingo! SOme truth!

Can't you blame him?

No - its about 2.2lb

> Hope that helps.
