I put this together for a friend of mine. I'm not a rep for MS and I don't
promise this is without errors. If you have any questions or want further
information check MS's site. This of course doesn't take into consideration
upgrades, student editions, volume licensing, warez, or selling your soul.
Just help you remember the "free as beer" part of the equation. After
reading, think to yourself "I love open source."

Retail Prices form Microsoft's Site:

 ****************************
Windows:
****************************
$199 - Windows XP Home
$299 - Windows XP Pro
$1,199 - Windows Server 2000 (up to 10 clients)
$3,999 - Windows Advanced Server 2000 (up to 25 clients)

BackOffice Server is no longer made. The replacement is:

****************************
Small Business Server Plus:
****************************
$1,499
$299 - (add 5 clients)
$999 - (add 20 clients)
It only supports 50 clients.

lets you access the server.)
Includes:
Windows 2000 server
Internet Information Server
Exchange Server
Internet Security & Acceleration Server
SQL Server
Shared Fax and modem Server .

The caveat is that you have to have all of these servers on one system (1
domain & 1 server solution) and that you can only have up to 50 clients all
of which you pay for as shown above.

If you don't want to have a "1 server" solution then you can buy the servers
separately. ALL of these still require that you first buy a version of
Windows Server to run them on.
