There are a lot of good references at the following site: http://www.tldp.org/ : 2.i try to install linux more than 25time untill now : but always i end wih the same problem which is "I : could not BOOT to LINUX" i use both GRUB & LILO ,when : i use GRUB it hange and i have Msg that tell me that : the System could not load in the memory, in case of : LILO it give me this"LO" and it hang , I don't recognize the message you are getting from GRUB, but here is a link to the GRUB documentation: http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/ And you can browse the GRUB bug list here to see if there is any mention of your error: http://savannah.gnu.org/projects/grub/ As for the message you report from LILO, it isn't listed in the LILO error codes, check it again and use this as a reference: http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Bootdisk-HOWTO/a1483.html : 3. i make Boot disk but it boot to linux shell and i : am not fameliar with linux command and so i do not : know how to get GUI for Linux ,i do not know if there : is command like "Win" in Windows OS . Here are a couple sites that offer some Linux command references: http://www.oreillynet.com/linux/cmd/ http://jgo.local.net/LinuxGuide/linux-commands.html : 4. About Loadlin ,i read about Loadlin , and i try to : use it ,it give me Msg that it can not load becuse : "not enough Buffer Memory" The errors you are mentioning all seem to have something to do with memory.. Is it possible that the version of Linux you are installing isn't recognizing your memory controller or the Rambus ram properly? : 5. i want to use Floppy /Cdrom to Boot Linux Graphx : Mode. This depends on the floppy/cdrom you are using to boot the system. If you are using the install disks, it will not be that simple. If you have an entire bootable Linux system on a floppy or cdrom, then it's pretty straightforward.. Although you wouldn't have graphics on a bootable Linux floppy. : 6. I have Red Hat Linux 7.2 ,so what do you Advise me : to have Red Hat or Mandrek Linux?bec i plane to buy : Redhat Linux 8.0. I would check through the supported hardware and knowledge base sections of both sites to make sure that your motherboard/ram will be supported properly since that's what it sounds like the problem is linked to. http://www.redhat.com/apps/support/ http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en/fdoc.php3 : so can you help me ? i hope You can! i looking for : your reply And Thankx. : Dr.Amjad Wrawreh : Note: i have Intel P4 1800Mz with 512Kb ,on intel : Origenal Motherbord Intel850,256MB RDRam,ATI 7000VE : 64MB DDRam Agp with TV out,HDD1 Segate 40Gb with : Windows XP on it,HDD2 2500MB Segate which is : Empty,FDD,DVD,cdRW,Pinnacle PCtvsat,Monitor 17", : modem56Kbs. : : : __________________________________________________ : Do you Yahoo!? : Yahoo!
