This is a two-part question:

I have a Linksys USB wireless adapter (802.11), model WUSB11. I want to
use it with the linux-wlan-ng driver (prism2_usb) which I have built and
insmod'ed successfully. However, I can't seem to get the wlan0 device to
appear when I 'ifconfig -a'. I use my Linksys PCMCIA wireless card with
the prism2_cs driver no problem (this mail out of it), but the USB one has
me stumped. Dr. Google tells me that many Linux users have had trouble
getting it started but by adding aliases in various module files (i.e.,
'alias wlan0 prism2_usb'), they were able to fix it. Not me. Any success
stories out there?

In case you are wondering why I need the USB device, a partner and I put
together a directional antenna, and we are conducting some experiments.
It's pretty cool. We were able to hit a WAP across campus about 1/4 mile
away and actually get on the web. It rocked. We want to bridge our two
networks from about 8 blocks away and share the DSL line. Has anyone had
any luck with long-distance 802.11 networking? If so, please share your
lore.
