I'm stuck with a useless PCI Linksys WMP11... the one where Linksys
swapped out the Prism chipset for a Broadcom chipset (no drivers, no
specs) without changing anything on their packaging.

I am, however, successfully using the wlan drivers for my Linksys PCMCIA
card. This may seem like a silly question, but have you increased the
verbosity level of your drivers and checked the logs? What do they say?
