I'm running Gentoo with all the latest and greatest packages, and I use
cups for printing. I've got an Epson Stylus C60 and I'm using the USB
interface to the thing. Everything works fine in Windows, and it is
erratic under Linux.

One of the problems that I'm having is that I setup the printer using
the cups web interface at localhost:631. When I immediately do this, I
can print the test page, and everything works fine. However, after a
reboot, or even after a little bit of working on the system, the printer
refuses to print. The web interface says that the job was completed,
but the document never showed up on my printer.

I'm basically looking to remedy the situation, so that I have reliable
printing on this box from all applications and all users.

What say ye, gurus?
