I haven't had much to complain about with PM since version 4.
I haven't used FIPS in forever (since like '95 or so), so I
can't really remember, but my faulty memory thinks it went ok.

Somebody said something about PM choking more often from a
Win 2K/XP install rather than boot floppies, and I kinda
agree with that. My experience is that running PM from a Win
2K/XP install often leaves the partition table in a weird
state. It doesn't cause problems with previously installed
OSes, but new OSes don't like it and often refuse to install
or complain loudly about errors.

At the installfest PM puked on me while resizing a primary and
an extended partition. However, we rebooted the machine into
Win2K, ran ScanDisk on C: and D: and then retried PM. After
the ScanDisk it resized the partitions without problem.

BTW, ScanDisk should be an item on our pre-installfest
requirements.
