I hardly ever keep cash on hand, actually. The various gemstones I have are
part of a collection I've been building over the years. It's more ecclectic
than valuable, mostly - I've got Libyan glass from the Sahara (just about
valueless, but it's got sentimental value since I used to live in Morocco,)
some topaz I smashed out of Topaz Mountain by hand when I was a kid, some
(very small) opals that remind me of an Australian girl I fell in love with
once... things like that. Only a small part of the collection consists of
"precious" things like gold and diamonds, and those are actually less
valuable to me because they can be replaced next time I've got a couple
hundred bucks on hand.

But no, all my actual money is in the bank, and I use a check card, or get a
$20 out of the ATM. If they're out to get me, well, I guess they're going
to know that I shop at Sinclair and always buy the cheapest gasoline and
whatever else.
