I just bought my fiancee a diamond on Friday. Yes, I'd done my research. Yes, I'd told her about my ethical issues with diamonds. Yes, we considered cultured diamonds and other stones. But ultimately it just boils down to what she wants to wear on her finger. And since she'll be wearing it for the rest of her life, you want her to get something she likes.
