Last year the UUG helped the ASM (another computer organization on campus (I think)) with an installfest. They really enjoyed it and have had a lot of requests for another.
The basic idea is one of the professors in the IT department will give a lecture on Thursday to get everyone ready and pumped; then on Saturday they'll come and we'll help them install.
In a lot of ways this will be easier for us than a normal installfest:
1) THERE WILL BE FREE PIZZA AND POP (please don't call it soda :-) ) 2) We don't have to have a booth; they'll be doing the advertising 3) They'll provide the CDs 4) They'll get the room and set everything up
So pretty much we'll just go, install Linux, and eat.
There is not a specific date set yet, but it will be one of the first Saturdays in November.
Should we do it? (i.e. how many UUGers are willing to help out)
I'll help out. Although, I'm teaching a merit badge at the pow-wow, so any saturday after that should be fine (discounting any end-of-the-world hailstorm or such judgement day things :)
