I had a similar problem to that one and I had to to the rebuildtree thing as well. You might as well pop in a knoppix CD, find/save your data and reinstall. It fubar'd my system by renaming all of the directories with numeric names. That's why it can't find init. The paths aren't correct anymore. I had to search through them to find my files (they were still there and had their names but I had to find them in the numeric directories). I love ReiserFS on my Mandrake box and it has never caused me any problems but a week into running Gentoo with ReiserFS it blew up on me. I switched to ext3 for the Gentoo box and it hasn't had problems since. YMMV. Good luck recovering your data. As long as you have a spare partition or network connection working under knoppix it just takes a few minutes with "find" to find all of your files. -- Michael Golden <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
