[uug] mplayer tv

is anyone using mplayer to watch tv? I'm using this:

mplayer -tv 
on:driver=v4l:width=640:height=480:device=/dev/video0:norm=ntsc:channel=39

to watch tv, but I get nothing but a green screen with some static.

I've got a Hauppage card and I'm able to watch tv using tvtime. I want 
to record programs using mencoder, but I can't even watch tv with mplayer.
