I thought that using postfix and smtp were kind of two different choices. You either do one or the other. At least they are two different choices in evolution. I've got comcast up here in WA and it seems like I was able to use postfix (default mandrake setup) without any special tricks. I haven't tried in a few months though, I use smtp (though not comcast's).
