I just installed Debian Sarge, and am having trouble with the floppy disk working. I would try to mount it from fd0, and get the following results:

% mount /dev/fd0
inserting floppy driver for 2.6.3-1-386
Floppy drive(s): fd0 is 1.44M
floppy0: Floppy io-port 0x03f2 in use
mount: /dev/fd0 is not a valid block device
%

if I try to load the floppy module manually, I get

%modprobe floppy
inserting floppy driver for 2.6.3010386
Floppy drive(s): fd0 is 1.44M
floppy0: Floppy io-port 0x032f in use
FATAL: Error inserting floppy (/lib/modules/2.6.3-1-386/kernel/drivers/bloc/floppy.ko): Device or resource busy
%

The disk itself is fine, and mounts if I use my external usb floppy drive. The drive is fine, as it works under slackware live, for booting Dos, etc.

thanks,

Michael Moore
