Yea, sorry, I meant AMD64 bit. Also, I found something about SuSE 9.1 Pro in AMD 64, but I wanted to
know from someone who tried Linux in 64-bit. http://www.suse.com/en/private/products/suse_linux/prof/64bit.html Thanks for the comment

A co-worker and I both recently got hold of Athlon-64 boxes for testing. He put Mandrake 10 for amd64 on his and it works like a champ. I can't remember if that was with his two serial-ATA hard drives and the Promise raid card or not, I'll check with him again on that next time I see him. I know he tried some amd64 red hat variant first and it totally choked on the raid card. My box has a single, normal old IDE hard drive and I put RHEL WS 3.0 for amd64 on it. It works great, not a single problem. I had to download some nVidia drivers for the video and network cards, which was a bit of a pain, but nVidia does have amd64 drivers available.

Good luck.

P.S. Just in response to Mike's shameless plug for the IBM PPC chip, are you sure you don't want to try an Itanium? :-P
