The thing I like is the speed, I watched a friend use his gmail, and everything was 
instantaneous. 

My Earthlink Web mail crawls compared to gmail, and I only get 10 MB. I only keep this 
account for email.

I must say, BTW, to all those considering getting an account: Gmail is
the best way to deal with the occasional high traffic on this list. 
Not only can you archive an entire emacs-related conversation with one
click, you can google-search every post since you switched to gmail. 
I don't know that I'd use it as my personal account, but I wouldn't
use anything else for a high-volume mailing list.
