It is good marketing. I also thought about the appropriateness of sending these messages to the UUG list, but several points (not necessarily in order of importance) led me to decide it was ok:


1) Everyone else is doing it. :)
2) There is a demand (judging by how fast people are giving away their invites)
3) By doing a google search for "gmail tips" and reading some of the pages that come up, there is a lot you can do with it, including using it for backup. :)
4) Geeks love this stuff. :)


On a more serious note, perhaps we should set up a page on the UUG site that has the names of people and how many GMail invites they currently have available. Perhaps make a second "low-traffic" mailing list that tells people when new invites are available. Just a few thoughts.
