Back in the day, corrupt priests would have loved to have this!

I remember hearing that when Jerome was translating the bible into
Latin, and the church wanted him to put a certain concept into the text,
but he refused saying it's not in the original text.  He said "show me a
version of the text with this in it and I'll put in my translation."
The next day a manuscript showed up with that change penciled in.  So
it's now in the Vulgate to this day.  I'll have to try to remember what
passage that was.
