If by ``here'' you mean ``at my house'', then moving to Austria kind
of complicates things (i.e., will you even have a broadband connection
and a place to put your box?). I bought a trusty Pentium Pro 200MHz
with 128MB of RAM and 6GB of drive space for $29, signed up for
dyndns, put Debian Sarge on the thing, and have never looked back. My
modem's on the blink, so it runs for several days without any
problems, and then disconnects several times in about a 3-hour period
of time, usually in the early afternoon. I have a polling script that
will reconnect the PPPoE connection if it goes down, and if the
reconnection attempt fails, I built a circuit to power-cycle the modem
via my parallel port, which always brings it back to life.
Because it's Debian, I have a cron job that auto-upgrades every
morning, and I don't have to worry about anything breaking. When I
went to Southern California for a couple of weeks around Christmas, my
connection went down several times, but my trusty scripts and circuits
recovered in just a few minutes' time. :-) And the auto-updates have
never caused me any problems; I would not be nervous about running
them even if I were away for a month.
Speakeasy is a good ISP to go with for this sort of thing. They're
not the cheapest ISP around, but they are very server-friendly.
