This should probably be taken out, since you then say that a first offense will only generate a private warning. That's not exactly what people think of as "zero-tolerance". You could just say you don't tolerate swearing, profanity, etc.


I also think that you should be more general about what isn't acceptable. Swearing is an example, but not the only thing. Sexual comments, for example, would probably not be allowed. I'd just say that the content of posts should conform to BYU standards, then give swearing as an example of unacceptable behavior.


I was thinking that with elections coming up, we could add a vote on
how to define the policies. Their may be multiple individual items
involved in this. One item for voting is likely whether or not warnings
and ban messages should be public or private. Other issues where there
is clear disagreement should also be voted on.

That sounds like an excellent idea.
