So even the streaming asx uses the Move Networks stuff??? That
sounds a little impossible since you have to have their player to
play the content which is only in the browser. byu.tv is the site
that uses Move Networks and yeah, if you install the windows version
of firefox under wine you can install the player and it runs really
well. You may want to install the msttcorefonts package (or
something like that)...makes the fonts on the byu.tv page and in the
browser turn out nicer.
I stand corrected. I thought the old Windows Media streaming was
taken down. I guess it is still up. I tried it on my Powerbook, and
I got past the ShelfReliance ad, but the picture was so small and the
video so blocky that it was unwatchable, in my opinion. It looked
even worse than YouTube. I then tried it under BootCamp on Windows
XP, and it looked ok, but not as large or high quality as the Move
stream. So, it looks like if you can use the optimized WM9 codecs, it
would give you an ok picture. I would also try the new url that is
posted on the BYU-TV site:
http://www.byutv.org/stream/byutv256b.asx
I haven't cracked it open to see if it is any different than the
byutv.asx file, but it may help you get past the ad.
Hope you can get it working.
