It's appropriate or not appropriate if the UUG collectively thinks it's appropriate or not. It's not written in the stars that a non-profit group page can't have ads. Knoppix.net has ads, so do many other open source websites and groups. Most of them are highly relevant to jobs and products that those visiting may benefit from. And if they started tolling me for using the sidewalk... well, I'd have to buy a car again because I'd probably be loosing the same amount either way and who knows what the fine would be for walking in the wrong direction... Let's pray that they don't do that.
