Hello everyone,

I'm presenting for our meeting on 10/15. The topic will be on LaTeX. I've
used LaTeX instead of Word or Open Office for all of my homework assignments
for the past year and a half. It's not just for conference papers or
presentations - you can make good looking single-page assignments with LaTeX
too. Here are some possible things I can discuss. I would very much
appreciate it if you would tell me what you want to know about, and if
there's something you want to learn that I haven't listed.

Document classes - article, full page, presentation
Making your own commands with \newcommand, \providecommand and \renewcommand
Labels and references for sections, figures, equations, algorithms, or
whatever you want to label
Math notation in LaTeX - $$, \[\], \(\) align, align*
What the * means after some commands
Algorithms in LaTeX
Figures with captions, configuring the display of figures, \includegraphics
and options
LaTeX in vim - plugins that help out
Changing the font or font style with \emph, \it, and so on
Using someone else's style document, like for a conference paper where they
specify the format
Bibliographies and citations
Changing the layout of the page with \textwidth, \textheight, \topmargin and
so on
How to change a .tex to a .pdf - pdflatex or Chris Monson's LaTeX makefile
