Although you must admit, gmail is encouraging the trend of top posting, if that is really such a bad thing... because if I want context, I wander back through the thread (even though I agree with Michael that they could thread better....) but then I don't trim because all that stuff is hidden for me by gmail, and it takes more effort to trim than it takes to let gmail automatically hide it for me. Likely because I have been using Gmail, these issues have never even occurred to me. Keeping all the cruft in the email wasn't a problem because it was hidden, and posting AFTER the reply was annoying because I just had to scroll down, which I didn't if my reply was at the top, with context provided by the thread... But take gmail away, and I can see the annoyance at top posting and not trimming....
my point?
