You didn't mention what you're operating software is but if you
are using XP...
Open Windows Explorer. In the menu bar, select Tools -> Folder
Options. Click the View tab and turn on "Show hidden files and
folders". You may want to uncheck "Hide extensions for known file
types". Seeing some files with extensions and some without is
incredibly confusing, IMHO. Click the "Apply to all folders" button
and you should be able to see everything.
