Thanks Alexey...

If the VBox host does NAT to the guest, isn´t NAT at the TCP level
rather than Ethernet? if then, couldn´t it be possible to make the
VBox host understand SOCKS5?.

I see I´m not the only one in this predicament, and it´s been asked before
https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=38907

would it be possible to use TranSOCKS on Linux host, to "socksify" the
host VM manager?

http://transocks.sourceforge.net/

or Proxychains?
http://spareclockcycles.org/2010/04/15/socksify-anything/
or Dante?
http://www.inet.no/dante/index.html

or under windows with Freecap
http://www.freecap.ru/eng/

no wait... you said ethernet level.. jmmm if someon e would create a
dummy ethernet nic driver that actually forwarded tcp traffic through
socks....

OMG all hail the allmighty Google... ;)

http://code.google.com/p/badvpn/wiki/tun2socks

"tun2socks is used to "socksify" TCP (IPv4 only) connections at the
network layer. It implements a TUN virtual network interface which
accepts all incoming TCP connections (regardless of destination IP),
and forwards them through a SOCKS server. This allows you to forward
all connections through SOCKS, without any need for application
support."

you´re welcome! :)

now someone please port this to win32 so I can use it on my xp netbook too ;)
