I download the three files from Oracle's site (4.2.4 RPM, the extpack and the
guest additions ISO) I installed the RPM using YaST, I then downloaded and
installed the extpack by clicking it as instructed in the manual) and last I
used the method Nick mentioned in the above thread and installed guest
additions. rebooted Xp and it worked.

This is what I do not get. When you say Virtual Machine menu bar do you mean
the VboxManager or the Win XP menu bar which is blank.

Meanwhile guest additions is working, I can create network drive, mouse works,
usb2 works, etc.

I tried the openSUSE repo but it seems to still have a problem with My Chesen
ps2 to usb converter box. It hangs the mouse pointer. Have not tried it in
Oracle version as the mouse, display and keyboard seem to work with out it
enabled. This was reported to Sun during 11.4 days and I thought they fixed
it, maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks for your response I will try a reinstall when I'm done test some
software for my wife. I personally do not use Windows except to help her and
she will probably be upgrading soon. I am afraid to Win 8.

Thanks again.
