The virtual "machine" is the client. So I mean on the Windows client's menu.

The Guest Additions ISO comes along with the main program and does not have
to be downloaded separately. Once you have installed the program, it will be
installed in the same directory as the program's executable itself. For
Windows guests this ISO should then be attached to the virtual CD Player of
the guest by using the VM VirtualBox Manager. With the guest selected on the
left you can click on the Settings button on the toolbar of VBox Manager.
When the WinXP guest machine's Settings window opens, click on the Storage
icon on the left side, and then on the right you will see a Storage Tree
with a Controller. The Controller should have a virtual CD player. Click the
player, and on the right side under Attributes click the little CD image.
Use the subsequent dialogue to select the Guest Additions ISO or, if you do
not see it listed there, to browse to the file on your host's directory.
Afterwards, when you start Windows XP, this CD should start up automatically
after it boots, assuming you have not allowed the guest to boot to CD to
begin with. Otherwise, during boot of XP you should bypass the CD and have
it boot from the virtual hard-drive. Once booted, if the CD did not start
installing the Guest additions automatically, then use Win XP Explorer to
got to My Computer, where you can see the CD. It should show the presence of
the Guest Additions as if a disk were inserted. Then you need to select the
"setup" file in the CD to begin its installation in the guest. When the
Guest Additions install, you definitely will see plainly the process of a
program installation. Afterwards, shut down the machine and remove the
virtual CD from the attached drive in the Storage section with VBox Manager.
Reboot WinXP and you should be good to go. That CD does NOT need to remain
in the drive after you have installed the Guest Additions.
