Dear Ron,

I have a Linux host, the guests are Windows. But there is clearlysomething going wrong which usually gets handled automatically,presumably due to the combination of new hardware or the new version17.04 of the host OS KUbuntu.

Depending on the distro and version, you may need to edit your/etc/X11/xorg.conf, /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/*, or use GUI tools(typically "System Settings" in KDE5, can't say for Gnome or others).


xrandr should tell you want X sees as the current and valid settings.

With most modern distros and hardware, this usually all gets handledautomatically with edid. But I suspect the guest is not getting thatinfo from VBox.

this doesn't work either - whatever settings are used in theFile - Preferences - Display menu, there is no change. In themeantime

     I have also tried installing the new release (5.1.30) with
     appropriate guest additions and extension pack. No change there
     either.
