I went back and confirmed with task manager that nothing else was running, and then timed the time it takes to DIR a directory with 176 files It to 20.6 seconds -- something is horrible broken with the way text output from cmd.exe is being handled. (8.5 lines per-second) By contrast the graphical update of task manager Performance (cpu & memory graphs) seem unaffected. Something has changed in 6.0.0 related to text output to the cmd console when accessed via rdesktop. -- David C.
