No, I start Vbox cold either from a menu --and the control panel comes
up nicely. Failure occurs only when I try to power on a VM.
I noted that the character control VBox responds with the warning:
"WARNING: The character device /dev/vboxdrv does not exist. Try
sudo /etc/init.d/virtualbox restart
and if that is not successful, try to re-install the package....."
There is no /etc/init.d/virtualbox.
