not VirtualBox is telling you this but the guest. For 64-bit support
you have to enable VT-x/AMD-V. As of VirtualBox 2.2.0 this is done
automatically for new VMs. And you should select a 64-bit VM type,
for instance 'Linux / Ubuntu 64-Bit'. Note that 64-bit types are
only available if your host supports VT-x/AMD-V.

Iff this is true, then I assume that VT-x/AMD-V was not enabled
properly for the VM for some reason. You should hover over the small
circuit with a 'V' in it. The tooltip should show you if VT-x/AMD-V
is enabled or not for that VM. Check the VM settings and check the
VBox.log file. Search for 'HWACCM:  ...' entries. Most probably the
BIOS of your machine did not properly enable that hardware mode.
