That's correct, it only mounts the iso image on the virtual
CD-ROM drive. Only if the guest OS does some form of
auto-run, it would install automatically.

In most cases you will have to navigate to the mounted image
in the guest (probably D: or E: in your case) and start the
installer. In windows XP it is best to install the VBox
Guest Additions from a boot in Safe mode, logged in an
account with administrator privileges.
