I've been looking at the files you offered. I must be missing some basiic knowledge (or I've skipped too much reading), but I haven't figured out what the .diff files are to be used for.
Also, it seems that update.sh does this: 1. GET the new .DEF files from a web site. 2. REMOVE the files just downloaded. 3. UNZIP the files just downloaded.
