Where do you live? Are there elk being mounted in your area by taxidermists? One can walk in just about any taxidermy shop here (Wyoming) and get elk trimmings from head-mounts. It may not be the area of the elk hide you desire, since it will be the shoulder/neck cape area, but sometimes the hunters cut off more than they need for the mount and you get some short stuff.

I am trying to find a source for a fairly large piece of elk hide that we can cut up and give to the soldiers. Unfortunately, we don't have much money for a purchase, and I've been to the local taxidermists with no luck with donations. Any help with sources will be greatly appreciated.
