Tony: I think you're right. Most of the flies I'm talking about probably do come from China etc. I remember when I first started fly fishing, and didn't tie my own, and I bought those type flies at Wal Mart. They were expensive, yet still fell apart after a cpl fish. Chuck

I would buy hooks in 1000 lots and get a good discount on my other materials. Chenille was bought by the 144 yard skein Thread bought 10 spools at a time and things like that kept the price down. I think the flies that are selling for .50 cents each are imported flies tied in India or some other country that has cheap labor. Even at bulk buying, I could not sell my flies for .50 cents each. I have been searching ebay, and other sites, and the ppl on there sell their flies, mostly just pretty simple patterns for only 6/$2.99 up to about 6/$5.95 tops. Plus either free shipping, or 45 cents, or maybe 75 cents or a dollar tops. Now, any hooks alone that are name brand, unless they are having a great sale, are gonna run ya up to a about 15.8 cents each @ $3.95/25 pack . So, how do these ppl make ANY money at all like this?? Or are they just doing it to try to recoup some money on a hobby they enjoy doing anyway?? Thanks, Chuck -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VFB Mail" group.
