One difference in the way I do it:  When I use the pinch method, instead of 
pulling the thread straight down, I bring it on under the hook to the my side 
and pull the thread straight UP.  I find I am able to keep the quill wings 
directly on the top of the hook better when I do it this way.

As the old saying goes, lots of ways to skin a ............ muskrat.  ( I like 
cats too well to skin one!)
