One of the tricks employed by stillwater anglers around my area is to tie a Brooding
Scud. It is simply tied as any other scud pattern on a straight shank hook in olive
green, tan or gray the only difference being the addition of a section of hot orange
dubbing in the middle of the body. This supposedly imitates the egg sac of a brooding
scud, and fish will target
this stage because of the additional protein content available. FWIW.
