   CHRIS,
All the replies soo far for your question are helpful...But
keep in mind Pacific Coast surf is alot rougher than Atlantic
Coast surf... So you need a stripping basket with some depth to
it. otherwise the rough surf just pulls your flyline out of it
all the time. I use a "rubber Maid" type wastepaper basket with
roughly the following measurements: 13" tall with an opening
about 11 1/4 " by 7 1/2". I simply drill a good amount of big &
little holes in the Bottom & up all sides a little way...drains
out the water.. Then I cut two slots in one side & run an
assesory strap on 2" width thru the slots & use it to "buckle"
the stripping basket to my waste. You'll wear the Stripping
basket on your side....This doesn't cost much & works perfect!!!
Nick Curricione uses this same style Stripping Basket in th So
Cal surf...He is the "godfather' of So Cal Surf Flyfishing.
Trust me...your stripped in line will stay in this stripping
basket..You can use a larger basket..the diamensions I gave are
for the Smallest you want to go with...
