Thanks.  I'll give this a try.  My husband loves the bass pond.  It has easy access to our house and our two little boys can fish there with him.  I like to kayak through there and watch the wildlife.

Subject: [VFB] Tarpon flies for Bass...

  DEBORAH,

Yes, you can certianly fish those Tarpon flies for Lgmouth Bass. I have used Lefty's "Cockroach" tarpon fly for Bass with good results. Any of the "Keys Tarpon Flies" should work. Any in Brown,Black,Olive,Yellow,Purple or Orange should be good choices to try. Look for the ones that have the Splayed Tail hackles as these will open & close on the slow retrieve and should "wake Up"the Bass. Tye them on #2/0 to #6, as opposed to the Tarpon sizes up to #5/0.. Tye them with Mason Hard Mono weed Guards so you can pull them thru the weeds & structure that LargeMouth like soo much.. Have fun with it....

I really like the looks of the tarpon flies. I was going to see if they
would work on large mouth bass? What do you think? Your right about the
tapes. I have a few I like. Most of mine are East Coast tiers. I think
the flies would probably still work. It does look like we chase some
different fish and we do a lot of surf fishing and rocks. Unless you have
access to a boat. We do have salt marshes but they aren't the same from what
I can tell. Haven't noticed any Oscars... Or big green lizards. I take
that back... They found a Cayman a couple months ago. Sneaking suspicion it
came from that pet shop.
