I built one for the Caddis swap last year.  I used a 2 1/2 ft stainless steel rod I found and bent it to shape. With a few pieces from home depot, ( spring, clamp, screws and hackle pliers ) I was done. I know they sell the hobby brass rods there. The whole thing rises and drops in a hole drilled in a vise extension. Use your imagination. I haven’t used this thing since. Saved $70
