My question to Ginger was how does she form the bubble head of her
tarpon flies.
Since Ginger opened this thread I will put my question to the group. I'm
working on copying a few tarpon flies a friend loaned to me. The one I just
finished is a 7/0 tarpon. I was wondering since this fly is so large if I
could attach the eyes with a light coat of epoxy and after that cured can I
put a second coat on to build up the bubble? It would seem to keep the
head neater but I wasn't sure if using two coats could mess up the finish on
the head. I've since found out that the flies I'm working on copying have
5 min epoxy on them.
I would still prefer to use the 30 min but this is a very large fly and I
would like to build the head up if I can still keep a clean clear look to
the epoxy.
