Ian, I'd use Liquid Wrench. You can get it in a can with small spout or in a spray can. I prefer the can with the spout. Put a few drops of Liquid Wrench, which is a penetrating oil and let stand overnight. I'd put another 2-3 drops on the know before going to bed. By next morning, the knob should turn with anly a minimum effort to loosen. Don't try to do it too quick. Needs to penetrate thoroughly. This is what I used to use in removing rusted studs in an exhaust system.

Hi,

after pulling my vice out from storage (where it has been in and out and unused for 6 months ) I found that the one of the Knurl knobs is rusted, and I cant move it... that will teach me to stpo tying for 6 months :-)

Does anyone have any advice for me on freeing this up ?

I have had the vice for ten years or more, and this is the first time it has rusted up. I think it is just a small amount of rust in the thread.

If i cant move it, I will only be able to tie flies in the #12 - 16 range.......

thanks Ian
