I also tried v4l2 recently.
I noticed a couple of things:
1) sound on my hauppage msp3400 based card simply did not work (no sound,
but big static clicks when changing channels) seems the msp3400 daemon
is not in v4l2 and the sound support is behind?
2) moving an xawtv window around on the screen is much more traumatic
than under v4l 0.7.27 - I get bad artifacts on the underlying screen
and the video in the window stops while it is being moved. These things
do not happen under v4l 0.7.27.
