Type 2 seems to be it. This is strange, since type 2 should be for Philips NTSC
tuners, and the PCTV card supposedly uses a Temic NTSC tuner, which should be
type 6.
I found this out (before receiving Zot's mail) by accident; I set type=2
explicitly for my WinTV card, started video with the Pinnacle card without
changing settings, and was surprised that the card then tuned. I then wasted an
hour or too before figuring out how it was now working.
Here's a summary of what I found:
- These lines in /etc/modules.conf work for me:
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 bttv
pre-install bttv modprobe -k tuner
options tuner type=2
- I have a Pinnacle Systems (www.pinnaclesys.com) Studio PCTV card. Hans has a
Studio PCTVpro card, which is probably why his recommended setup (see
http://www.xs4all.nl/~orchard/linux/pctvpro.html) does not work for me
- I tried all of the following, which did not work:
- letting driver set tuner (comment out "options tuner ..." line above)
- type=5
- type=6 (? should work - should be Temic
NTSC tuner)
- type=14
- card=52 type=14 (might work for PCTVpro; doesn't for Studio
PCTV)
Thanks for help!
