Your finding is reasonable.
TEMIC has 2 different tuner series:
- Tuner=8: Temic NTSC (4036 FY5) is Philips compatible (i.e. compatible to type=2)
- Tuner=6: Temic NTSC (4032 FY5) is not
The difference between 2 vs. 8 are (band) switch over frequencies: 451 vs. 463 MHz,
this should only matter if you tune these frequencies. I don't know how strict the
specifications from datasheets must be taken, I think it won't harm much in this case.
Still open:
Why does autodetect pick tuner=5 (i.e. PAL) as Zot wrote, perhaps he has another
card. Zot do you live in PAL area?
PAL (tuner=5) and NTSC (tuner=2) would both tune fine, only difference would be the
IF (intermediate frequency) delta: your channels would be 6.85 MHz offset !
