I'm interested in knowing how many of you have video production studios in your libraries. Either live recording facilities or editing/post production facilities.
Could you please give me some idea of the kinds of projects you work on, what you interaction is with campus faculty and a general idea of the mission? We *do* have such a studio; it needs some upgrading but it is a nice facility. But we are reviewing it's overall purpose given recent directions in media making, and I'd like to get some comparative information from other colleagues about their sites. Even if some of you do not have a studio but have some opinions about the role of libraries in producing video/electronic media -- I'd like to get your input. VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition,bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries,educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
