We are making safety videos for use by our industrial design students to instruct them in the proper use of machines and tools in the shop. They are in English and will be close captioned in English as well as Mandarin and Korean. I know there are times when it is better to use voice over rather than closed captioning and perhaps we should do that for the Mandarin and Korean. Do you know of any studies that have looked at which is more effective. We might just do some testing onsite for the sake of collecting information, but I would like to know what is already available in the literature.
Thank you! Kathy Evans Visual and Performing Arts Purdue University VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
